Pack's Gottfried to make leap ...with a parachute

September 13, 2011

Mark Gottfried is going where Mike Krzyzewski and Roy Williams haven't.

N.C. State's new basketball coach will make a unique entrance at the Wolfpack's football game against South Alabama on Saturday night.

As part of the Wolfpack program's plans for Military Appreciation Day, Gottfried will make a tandem parachute jump into Carter-Finley Stadium with the ROTC Ranger parachute team at halftime.

Injured solders and other service members from the Wounded Warrior Project at Fort Bragg and Camp Lejeune will be honored during the game and will take part in the football team's pre-game "Walk of Champions." Halftime will feature a field-sized flag unfurled by military personnel, firefighters and police. There will also be a Sept. 11 remembrance video.
