From staff reports

FOUR OAKS -- A South Carolina motorist was killed on Interstate 95 Sunday when a tire on her vehicle went flat, causing her car to swerve off the road and crash into a ditch, the N.C. Highway Patrol reported.

The woman, Tammy Olds, 34, of Liberty Hill, S.C., was ejected from her vehicle and killed as a result of her injuries, a patrol spokesman reported this morning.

The wreck occurred about 6:05 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the interstate, about a half-mile south of Four Oaks, the spokesman reported.

Olds' vehicle was traveling in the northbound lanes of the interstate when one of her tires went flat. The vehicle went off the right side of the road, struck a ditch and overturned several times. Olds was thrown from the vehicle. The vehicle came to a rest on Miller Road. Olds landed in a yard, just north of the vehicle, the patrol reported.

Olds was not wearing a seatbelt, investigating trooper T.C. Emory reported.
