DURHAM — Police have charged a second man in a fatal shooting on the Durham Freeway in March.
James Eric Downey, 24, of Marne Avenue was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder in the shooting of Demario Eugene Carr, 26, of Davinci Street, on N.C. 147 near the Roxboro Street exit, according to police.
The incident occurred about 3 a.m. March 19, when officers responded to the police headquarters parking lot in response to a gunshot wound and found a vehicle that had been shot multiple times and a man who had been shot in the head.
Unknown suspects had pulled alongside the vehicle in the northbound lanes of the freeway and fired into the vehicle, injuring the passenger. The victim was taken to police headquarters by the driver.
The first suspect charged in the crime, Terry Percell Green, 22, of 1835 Cheek Road, turned himself in May 23 at the Durham County Magistrate's Office, according to police.
