WILSON — A whirligig park being built in Wilson has received a $500,000 grant from 11 foundations and the National Endowment for the Arts.
ArtPlace announced earlier this month that the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park Project will receive the money through the city of Wilson.
The new consortium is giving out more than $11 million to various projects.
The park already has received three grants from the N.C. Arts Council for documentation, park design and conservation.
The Arts Council also is providing technical expertise for the project.
