Roland Robert Wilkins, of Durham, NC, died on September 24, 2011. Roland is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ray; daughter Catherine (Carl) Hart of Durham; son Scott (Jennifer) Wilkins of Chicago, Illinois; and grandson Cameron Hart. He is also survived by his cousin, Marian Korroch of Lansing, Michigan and sisters in-law and brothers in-law, Jean and Stan Johnson and Ann and Stanley Lukawecki. Roland was born in Lansing, Michigan on February 25, 1931, the son of the late Barto and Vivian Wilkins. He was educated in the Lansing public schools and received an AB degree from Albion College. He received a JD degree from Duke University Law School and graduated from Northwestern University Trust School. Roland worked for Duke University for nearly 30 years. He consulted on Major Gift Campaigns at Peace College in Raleigh, NC and Hollins University in Roanoke, VA. He served on numerous boards throughout the Triangle, was a member and Elder at Blacknall Memorial Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Durham Kiwanis Club.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday,October 8, 2011 at Blacknall Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1902 Perry Street, Durham, NC.
