RALEIGH -- Work on a downtown Raleigh paving project is scheduled to start early this week.
The work will focus on a 1.2-mile stretch of Blount and Person streets, between Edenton and Hoke streets.
Blount and Person are one-way streets going in opposite directions and running parallel to one another, one block apart.
The initial work will involve the construction of two wheelchair ramps at Lenoir and Blount streets and some curb repairs, according to the state Department of Transportation.
The project will require closing the left lane of Blount Street from Cabarrus Street to South Street to allow crews to safely do the work.
The closures will be in effect between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays.
The Blount Street section between Cabarrus Street and Hoke Street is scheduled to be finished by Nov. 22, and the rest of the project is to wrap up by July 20.
