RALEIGH — Powell Elementary School closed early Friday after a nearby water main break left the school without water.
A six-inch main broke at 1125 Marlborough Road between Westchester and Remington roads, according to Raleigh officials. Utility workers cut off water service to 13 customers and Powell Elementary so they could repair the break.
The magnet school closed at 11:45 a.m.
Students were dismissed after teachers contacted parents individually.
Wake County school officials said the water main has been repaired and Powell will reopen on schedule Monday.
