Beat Wake Forest 49-24
What worked
Just about everything. The Tar Heels forced turnovers on defense, moved the ball with ruthless efficiency on offense and bounced back from a two-game losing streak with aplomb. The skill players scored the touchdowns, but credit quarterback Bryn Renner, who had a career-high 338 yards passing and no interceptions.
What needs work
Both sides of the punting game. Freshman punter Thomas Hibbard had his third punt of the year blocked, so punt protection should be an area of priority this week. Returner Charles Brown seems unwilling to field punts, too often letting the defense down the ball.
What's next
The Tar Heels (6-3 overall, 2-3 ACC), with bowl eligibility secured, will try to break their four-game losing streak against N.C. State (4-4, 1-3) in Raleigh on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
