Millbrook High is expected to play one of the best boys' high school basketball teams in the country during the Clash at Cameron on Dec. 17 at Duke's Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Coach Scott McInnes' Wildcats, who played for the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A title in 2010-11, are scheduled to play Wolfeboro (N.H.) Brewster Academy in a 6:30 game. The game will be the eighth of the day.

N.C. State recruit T.J. Warren, a 6-foot-8 forward who played at Durham Riverside and Raleigh Word of God, is joined on the Brewster squad by 6-10 center Mitch McGary, a Michigan recruit who is the No. 2-ranked player in the country by the scout.com, and point guard Semaj Christon, an Xavier recruit who is ranked No. 57 in the country.

Warren is No. 22 on the scout.com list.

Millbrook returns three starters but doesn't have a group of nationally ranked recruits.

"We will go and scrap and play as hard as we can," McInnes said. "Whoever we play, so be it. We've got three starters back, and I'm sure we'll play hard. It's exciting to play against the best."

McInnes said he is pleased his players have the chance to play at Duke's famed arena.

"I think it will be something they remember," McInnes said.

Football game switch: Undefeated Word of God has moved its N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association eight-man football championship game to Ravenscroft. Word of God will play Kinston Parrott at 7:30 p.m. Friday for the title.

Word of God (11-0) defeated Parrott 54-27 during the regular season.

Cheerleading: The N.C. High School Athletic Association will hold its ninth cheerleading invitational championships Saturday at the Raleigh Convention Center. Competition will be held in 12 categories, and 120 teams are expected.

Doors will open at 7:30 a.m., and competition will start at 9 a.m.

Day sidelined: Bria Day, a 6-4 junior forward and one of the components in Millbrook's 31-2 girls' basketball season in 2010-11, is expected to miss much of the coming season following shoulder surgery.

The Wildcats should be among the state's best again anyway. Millbrook returns a wealth of talent, including 6-4 junior Briana Day, Bria's sister and the most valuable player of the Eastern Regional.

Senior Taylor Houston, who is committed to Bethune-Cookman; Briana Day; junior Ryan Flowers and junior Alex Tomlinson all were first-team all-Cap Eight picks last season.

The Wildcats also have added all-Cap Eight pick Mykia Jones, who transferred from Enloe.

Jordan recruits: Durham Jordan's Alex Raburn, a baseball third baseman, and Rachel McGirt, a girls' basketball post player, will sign national letters-of-intent this week.

Raburn hit .514 last spring at Jordan and will sign with North Carolina. McGirt averaged 13 points, eight rebounds and four blocks and will sign with UNC Asheville.

Raburn said his dream of playing in the College World Series was a factor in his decision to sign with the Tar Heels.

"I really want to go to Omaha (Neb.) and compete for a national championship, and Carolina has been five of the last six years," Raburn said. "I like the players and the coaches and I believe I'll fit right in."
