Area teams win titles

The CASL Girls' Shoot-Out drew teams from 25 different age divisions from across the state and beyond to the Triangle last weekend.

Five area teams won division titles:

The CASL Lighting won the U10 AdiZero division.

In the U11 Copa division final, Wake Forest United Red defeated FC Cary U10 Cruz 4-0.

Johnston United's '98/'99 team claimed the U13 Predator division with a 3-2 win over Bethesda (Md.) Academy's '98 team in the championship match.

The East Wake Soccer Association's Lady Hammers shut out Weddington Black 3-0 to win the U13 Samba division.

In the U14 Samba division final, Triangle United Soccer Association Green G blanked the Jacksonville Coastal Surge 1-0.

The CASL '00 Elite White Ladies advanced to the finals of the U11 Predator division and pushed the McLean United Green to a 2-2 draw in the final before losing the title to McLean on penalties.

ECNL

Five CASL Chelsea Ladies' teams scored back-to-back victories against Virginia teams in Elite Clubs National League tournaments.

The '97 CASL Chelsea Ladies beat the Richmond Strikers 3-1. Scoring for CASL were Abby Staker, Izzy Crabtree and Mackenzie Fasulo. The team next faced FC Virginia and knocked them out 3-1. Lily Schneider scored two goals for CASL, and Madeline Uenking scored the third.

The '96 CASL Chelsea Ladies shut out the Richmond Strikers 2-0. Kat McDonald and Taylor Otto scored CASL's two goals and Sydney Wooten was credited with the shutout. The '96 CASL Chelsea team also beat FC Virginia 2-1, with Emily Truelove and Kat McDonald scoring for CASL.

The '95 CASL Chelsea Ladies beat the Richmond Strikers 3-2 with goals by Gracin Palmer and Cheyenne Warrick, who scored twice. The team shut out FC Virginia 1-0. Bayley Rigsbee scored for CASL. Caroline Duncan and Alex Lagrande got the shutout.

U.S. National

Soccer Camp

Top CASL players attended U.S. National Soccer Camps at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. the last week of October, earning an opportunity to compete for spots on future FIFA Women's World Cup teams.

Caroline Lindquist of Raleigh and Alex Shaffer of Cary attended the U18 camp.

Joanna Boyles, Raleigh, and Morgan Reid and Claire Wagner, both of Cary, were invited to the U17 camp.
