I played football for eight years. I watch college football every Saturday. It is a great game, but a great game gone out of control. The child sex scandal is not a college football story - it is a moral outrage. But the Penn State football coaching staff and university administration is at the heart of this awful sexual abuse of children scandal and cover-up for over 13 years. In addition to the firing of the university president, vice president, athletic director, and head coach, what should be our response?

For starters, every NCAA school should cancel its football games today, and rather than a game on the field the presidents of every school should stand on the 50 yard line and make a public commitment to protect children, to academics over athletics and to follow the law of the land.

Finally, the football program at Penn State University should be shut down until this child sex abuse scandal and cover-up is completely adjudicated. This is a massive moral tragedy and nothing short of this action is acceptable.
