Tevin Hester, Granville Central: The Clemson recruit was a runner-up in the 3A/2A/1A 55-meter dash in the N.C. High School Athletic Association winter finals.

Hester had a top-10 national finish in the indoor sprints last year.

Bakri Abushouk, Cary: The junior was second the 1,000 in 2011 and is one of the top distance runners in the state.

Charlton Larkins, Sanderson: Took third place in the 2011 winter shot put with a throw of 48 feet, 3 inches.

Steven Phillips, Cardinal Gibbons: Finished third in the 3A/2A/1A 3,200 meters in the winter and recently won the NCHSAA 4A cross country championship.

Tommy Schotzinger, Cardinal Gibbons: Placed second in the NCHSAA 3A 1,600 outdoors last spring.

Sam Roberson, Broughton: Helped lead the Caps to an NCHSAA 4A cross country title and was 4A outdoor runner-up in 3,200.

Khourtney Whitted, Durham Riverside: The 4A runner-up in the outdoor long jump.

Jonathan Addison, Enloe: The NCHSAA 4A runner-up in the outdoor high jump.
