The Eastern N.C. Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society has awarded 10 local scholarships.

Among the local winners of $1,000 scholarships are Breanna Johnson, Kristen Kligerman and Sterling Simpson-Johnson.

Breanna, who graduated this year from Panther Creek High School in Cary, planned to attend Harvard University to study biology.

Kristen, a graduate of Green Hope High School in Cary, was to attend Appalachian State University, where she planed to study international business with minors and German and English.

Sterling, a graduate of Enloe High School in Raleigh, was to attend the University of Richmond, where he planned to study German and business administration with a focus in finance.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society awards scholarships to students who have MS or a parent with it to help offset the costs of treating and living with the disease.
