PITTSBORO -- A Chapel Hill man died Thursday morning in a single-car accident on U.S. 15-501 after the vehicle he was driving ran off the road.
Sean Wayne Jones, 36, of 1311 Lady Bug Lane in Chapel Hill was traveling north on U.S. 15-501 outside Pittsboro about 10:25 a.m. Thursday when his car ran off the road to the right, the state Highway Patrol said.
The car struck a guardrail and bridge and landed in the water, the patrol said, and Jones was ejected from the car.
