Downtown Raleigh's Wells Fargo building evacuated

Occupants evacuate the Wells Fargo building in downtown Raleigh after a fire alarm around 2:30 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2011. Initial reports indicated someone was cooking hamburgers on the 28th floor. At 32 stories, the building is the city's second-tallest office tower. It was known as the Wachovia building until Wells Fargo bought Wachovia and rebranded the tower.

The Wells Fargo building in downtown Raleigh was evacuated briefly around 2:30 p.m. because of a fire alarm.

Conversations over emergency channels indicated someone was cooking hamburgers on the 28th floor, which may have triggered the alarm.

At 32 stories, the building is the city's second-tallest office tower. It was known as the Wachovia building until Wells Fargo bought Wachovia and rebranded the tower.

Emergency officials had blocked parts of Martin, Fayetteville and Salisbury streets while they responded to the alarm.
