THOMASVILLE -- A 4-year-old girl is dead and a relative faces charges of driving while impaired after a farm tractor they were riding on rolled off a gravel road and into a small creek.
The Dispatch of Lexington reports that Leala Hardy died Monday near Thomasville.
She was riding on the tractor driven by John William Patterson, 50. The state Highway Patrol has charged Patterson with driving while impaired.

A state program, started in 1989, would pave every road in North Caroilna. It has cost hundreds of millions of dollars and now will upgrade roads that serve few homes.
