RALEIGH — One man is dead after a series of events, including a home invasion, wreck and stabbing in a residential neighborhood in north Raleigh before dawn Sunday, Raleigh police say.
The incident began at 4901 Wallingford Drive, a three-family house at the corner of Wallingford Coral Ridge Court, where a home invasion robbery occurred just before 5 a.m.
Shortly after, police say a motor vehicle crash occurred in the 4900 block of New Hope Road, and then an altercation occurred near the accident scene where a male was stabbed, the news release states.
The victim, whose name has not been released pending notification of next of kin, died at WakeMed. Investigators are trying to determine any relationship between the three incidents.
Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue said officers temporarily closed New Hope Road and Wallingford Drive during the investigation, which brought several detectives to the scene, and a K-9 unit attempted to track a suspect.
