The View: Cycling on Reedy Creek Road

Chris Seward - cseward@newsobserver.com
N.C. State University students Forrest Raynor, left, and Guillaume Deschamps cruise over the hills on Reedy Creek Road in Raleigh last week. They are riders with the Wolfpack Cycling Club, and they were out on a little ride of about 50 miles. The distance is not unusual for them; they ride about 300 miles a week as they prepare for the upcoming ACC season. The club is not a varsity sport, but the cyclists do have meets against other ACC schools. They have a meet in Raleigh the weekend of Feb. 11. "I ride for fun, for fitness," Raynor said. "It's a good community."

How I got the shot

I remember covering a bike event on this road a few years ago, and it had rolling hills and the white fence. I went back on a nice afternoon hoping to find some people out enjoying the unseasonably warm weather.
