ATLANTA -- Mike Scott scored 18 points and No. 15 Virginia bounced back from a tough loss at Duke, blowing out Georgia Tech 70-38 on Thursday night.

The Cavaliers (15-2, 2-1 ACC) were never seriously challenged by the Yellow Jackets, who put up their lowest-scoring game since a 53-38 loss to Wake Forest in 1982.

Virginia was coming off a 61-58 defeat at Cameron Indoor Stadium that snapped a 12-game winning streak. The Cavs wasted no time getting started on a new streak, taking advantage of a team that doesn't have a true home arena - Georgia Tech is playing at Philips Arena while its campus facility undergoes a major renovation - nor much ACC-level talent.

Kammeon Holsey had 12 points to lead Georgia Tech (8-10, 1-3).

Big South

Campbell 73, Radford 65: Lorne Merthie scored 19 of his 21 points in the second half as Campbell won at Radford for the Camels' third straight Big South Conference win.

Eric Griffin added 15 points and 11 rebounds for Campbell (13-8, 7-2), which shot 60.9 percent in the second half (14 of 23).

The Camels, who came in ranked 3rd nationally in field-goal percentage (.503), finished at 50 percent (24 of 48).

Javonte Green's 16 points led the Highlanders (4-17, 1-8), who shot 39.6 percent (21 of 53).

Winthrop 56, Gardner-Webb 54: Reggie Middleton made three free throws with 1.2 seconds left to lift Winthrop (8-12, 5-4) at home.

All nine Big South games for Gardner-Webb (9-12, 4-5) have been decided by two possessions or less.

Southern

Wofford 73, Appalachian State 61: Drew Crowell scored a career-high 19 points and the Terriers (11-8, 4-3) shot 53.8 percent from the field in the home win. Kevin Giltner added 18 points and was the leading rebounder for Wofford with eight. Brad Loesing added 10 points and seven assists.

The Mountaineers (7-10, 3-4) were led by Andre Williamson with 20 points and nine rebounds.

Samford 86, Elon 80: Tyler Hood and Drew Windler combined for 10 of Samford's season-high 16 3-pointers as the Bulldogs (5-12, 2-4) won at Elon.

Hood scored a career-high 25 points, hitting 4 of 7 from long range, and Windler had 21 points, making 6 of 9 3-pointers. Drew Spradlin's 19 points led Elon (8-9, 3-3).

CIAA

Saint Augustine's 78, Elizabeth City State 72 (OT): Tyron Laughinghouse had 15 points and 12 rebounds and Saint Augustine's College outscored Elizabeth City State 10-4 in overtime to eke out a home win.

The victory set the stage for Saturday's showdown against defending CIAA champion Shaw for the Falcons (10-6, 5-1). Game time for the cross-town battle is 4 p.m. at Spaulding Gym on Shaw's campus.

David Brown added 12 points, Chris Johnson had 11 and Jeremy Banks 10 for the Falcons.

Paul Goldsmith scored 13, Angelo Sharpless had 12, and Omar Jones and Marquie Cooke had 11 each for Elizabeth City State (8-8, 2-3).

Shaw 67, Lincoln 55: Malik Alvin scored 22 and the Bears (14-2, 6-0) stayed unbeaten in the CIAA with the home win. Junius Chaney added 15 points and Karron Johnson had 13.

Denzel Mooney led Lincoln (7-10, 2-4) with 26 points. Derrick Washington added 11.

Bowie State 70, Johnson C. Smith 60: Jay Gavin scored 19 and Darren Clark and Bryan Wilson added 11 points each for Bowie State (12-3, 4-2) in the home win.

Antwan Wilkerson led Johnson C. Smith (7-8, 2-3) with 12 points and nine rebounds. Phillip Wood had 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Trevin Parks had 11 points.

SEC
