Seven teens who participated in the City of Raleigh's Summer Youth Employment Program were honored for their work with Outstanding Youth Employee awards.
The winners were nominated by their supervisors and chosen from among 163 program participants. They were recognized by the Raleigh City Council at its Sept. 6 meeting.
Here are the winners:
Kameron Davis, a 2011 graduate of Enloe High School, worked as a junior counselor at Biltmore Hills Community Center.
Khadijah McNeil, a student at Mary E. Phillips High School, worked as a junior counselor at Roberts Park Community Center.
Lauren Price, a student at Raleigh Charter High School, worked as a junior counselor at Millbrook Exchange Community Center.
Njeri Royster, a GED student, performed light labor for the Parks and Recreation Department.
Ryan Smothers, a student at Leesville Road High School, worked as a junior counselor at Lake Lynn Community Center.
Daniel Taft, a graduate of Southeast Raleigh High School, performed light labor at Barwell Road Community Center.
Martin Thompson, a graduate of Middle Creek High School, did office work for the Community Services Department.
