Editor's note: Zellie's breed has been corrected to Bernese mountain dog at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23, 2012

Some special guests from a program called See Spot Read visited Longview High School recently.

Zellie, a Bernese mountain dog, and Beth Weaver, her volunteer handler, visited the school to help students practice reading aloud. Zellie and other dogs from See Spot Read are trained to respond to young readers, and the accompanying volunteers offer students encouragement and help with sounding out words and reading comprehension. Four students from Longview's middle school program were selected to participate in See Spot Read's first visit, in September.
