Main Street in the gloaming

  • While shooting a story about the Haitian community in Mount Olive, I noticed the winter twilight and streetlights transform a normally unremarkable street scene into a study of light and shadow. I used a wide-angle lens to capture the moment.

As dusk falls over Mount Olive on Wednesday, the streetlights come on, casting a warm glow over Main Street in the Wayne County town, where a growing Haitian population supports a specialty supermarket and Caribbean restaurant.
