DURHAM Durham police have arrested a man who was a resident at the Durham apartment where a police shooting took place Tuesday morning when police were serving a search warrant.
Vincent Gunter, 43, of 905A Colfax St., was arrested yesterday. He is facing multiple drug charges including two counts of possession of cocaine with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver, two counts of sale and delivery of cocaine, and one count of maintaining a dwelling for keeping or selling a controlled substance. He is accused of one count of felony conspiracy, according to Kammie Michael, Durham police spokeswoman. He was placed in Durham County Jail under a $50,000 bond.
Rahmil Ingram, 19, of Chapel Hill, was shot by a police officer at the Colfax apartment yesterday just after 10:30 a.m. when members of the police department's Selective Enforcement Unit entered the apartment to serve a search warrant for a narcotics investigation. When police arrived, Ingram was armed and shots were fired, reported Michael. Ingram remains hospitalized today.
Ingram is facing the following charges: the assault of a law enforcement officer with a firearm; one count of possession of marijuana with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver; one count of possession of a stolen firearm and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the police report.
Officers seized cocaine, marijuana, cash and a firearm from the Colfax apartment.
Agents with the State Bureau of Investigation are investigating the shooting, which is standard procedure for any officer-involved shooting.
