Inshore boats and anglers on the beaches reported scattered puppy drum, speckled trout and bluefish biting. Offshore boats reported stripers and wahoo are biting. Cape Lookout/
Bogue Inlet
Inshore and in the sound, the speckled trout and red drum bite remains a bit sporadic due to colder temperatures in the area. Offshore, triggerfish and wahoo are being caught with grouper and sea bass being caught strictly on a catch-and-release basis. Topsail Island

Wilmington/ Wrightsville Beach

Southport/Sunset Beach

Freshwater
Falls Lake
Fishing in the area has picked up thanks to the warmer weather. Largemouth bass are being caught on jerkbaits and spinner baits in 3 to 5 feet depths. Crappie are still suspended at depths of about 20 feet around bridge pilings on minnows. Catfish are also being caught in the warmer weather. Jordan Lake
Under the bridges and where Robesron Creek converges with the lake, crappie are being caught on live minnows. Water level: normal 216, Wednesday 216, full pool 240.
Kerr Lake
The largemouth bass are still being caught shallow on crankbaits, spinner baits and jerkbaits. Crappie are biting on minnows in brush piles. Striped bass are still biting shallow on jumbo minnows and live baits. Catfish are being caught at deeper depths in the lake. Water level: normal 300, Wednesday 297.87, full pool 320. Lake Wheeler
