RALEIGH -- An employee at a small, North Raleigh hotel was making room checks late Thursday morning when he discovered the body of a 24-year-old guest sprawled face down on the floor with blood pooling beneath his head.
The hotel employee quickly closed the door of the third floor room at the Studio Plus Hotel, 921 Wake Towne Drive, and called 911.
Stephen Curtis Hoyle of Cary was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police spokesman Jim Sughrue.
Noureddine Oumous, 21, of 1011 Gilby Road in Apex, and William Michael Estes, 25, of 6304-C Linville Drive in Raleigh, have both been charged with murder in Hoyle's death. Both are being held at the Wake County jail without benefit of bail. Charles Dyvonne Estes, 35, also of 6304-C Linville Drive, has been charged with accessory after the fact to murder and with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in connection with the crime.
Federal immigration officials have placed a detainer on Oumous because they think he might be in this country illegally. Police arrested Oumous at a home on Pine Stump Lane in Raleigh. William Estes was taken into custody at a motel on Walnut Street in Cary.
Sughrue declined to disclose the cause of Hoyle's death or a possible motive.
State records show that Oumous and William Estes have criminal histories. Estes has prior charges for misdemeanor possession of stolen goods, misdemeanor larceny and simple assault. Oumous has been charged in the past with misdemeanor stalking, possession of marijuana, assault on a female and felony possession of cocaine.
Hoyle's state criminal record in North Carolina is riddled with drug offenses. He had a pending court date on Monday on a robbery charge and was scheduled to appear in court Feb. 28 on charges of felony possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Past charges against Hoyle include multiple felony counts of selling and delivering counterfeit cocaine, felony possession of cocaine and felony possession with intent to sell and deliver crack cocaine, state records show.
Police are asking anyone with information about the case to call Raleigh Crime Stoppers at 834-4357.
