When the Senior Bowl college football game kicks off this afternoon in Mobile, Ala., Time Warner Cable customers will be in the dark because of a dispute between the service provider and the National Football League.
The game in which college seniors show off what they they've got for NFL coaches and scouts, is being televised on The NFL Channel at 4 p.m.
Time Warner says it does not want to have to charge for The NFL Network in order to carry other NFL programming.
In a page of "frequently asked questions" (FAQ) on its website, Time Warner says, "We have offered to carry the NFL Network on a Sports Pass. Customers choosing to subscribe to the Sports Pass would have access to this programming at their choice. Customers choosing not to subscribe to the Sports Pass would not have to pay for this expensive programming."
AT&T carries The NFL Network on its cable channel 630, which is a premium channel. The Dish satellite network carries it as part of a premium sports package. DirecTV lists the NFL Red Zone but not The NFL Network in its offerings.
