RALEIGH -- Aslea Williams led four players in double figures with 21 points as Shaw downed Fayetteville State 79-51 on Monday night at C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium for its 10th straight victory.
Kyria Buford added 15 points and nine rebounds and Sequoyah Griffin had 14 points and Brittany Ransom 11 for the Bears (14-5, 9-0), who remain unbeaten in CIAA play.
The Broncos (7-10, 2-7) played well early, and were effective defensively, holding Shaw to just 36 percent shooting from the floor in the first half.
But Buford hit 3-pointers on three straight possessions, spurring a 13-0 run to give Shaw a 36-16 lead with 4 minutes, 7 seconds to go in the half.
The Bears led 39-21 at the break. Shaw didn't fare much better from the field for the remainder of the game - outside of getting red hot behind the 3-point line.
After misfiring on their first seven 3-point attempts, the Bears, who were limited to just 39 percent shooting for the game, finished the game hitting seven of their final nine shots from 3 to build on their lead in the second half.
Bria Robinson led Fayetteville State with 12 points to go with seven rebounds. Je'Lena Robertson added nine points and Akysia Resper eight.
Johnson C. Smith 70, Winston-Salem State 61: The Rams (13-6, 8-1) gave it their all, but fell short in a hard-fought road loss to the Golden Bulls (15-3, 9-0). After controlling much of the game, Winston-Salem State fell victim to a late surge by Johnson C. Smith.
St. Augustine's 86, Livingstone 76: Senior guard Keianna Evans scored 17 to lift the Falcons (11-8, 6-3) past the Blue Bears (7-14, 2-7).
Samford 83, UNC Greensboro 40: Samford shot a blistering 68 percent from the floor in the second half and 62 percent for the game in picking up a win against the visiting Spartans.
Sophomore forward Janae' Stevenson scored a team-best 13 points for UNC Greensboro (3-17, 2-10). Sidnei Harmon and Jarae Savage had eight points each.
Winthrop 83, Campbell 73: Dequesha McClanahan led a 22-6, second-half run to propel the Eagles over the visiting Camels (12-8, 5-4). Winthrop improves to 11-10 overall and 5-4.
Maryland-Eastern Shore 54, N.C. Central 46: Even with a stellar first-half run and three Eagles scoring in double-figures, host N.C. Central still came up short with a loss to the Hawks.
Junior Chasidy Williams led the Eagles with a team-high 17 points.
