TearScience expects to begin selling the next generation of its dry-eye treatment in March.
The Morrisville company announced Wednesday that the Food and Drug Administration has approved the second generation of its LipiFlow Thermal Pulsation System, which treats a common form of dry-eye disease by warming oil glands in the eyelids to clear obstructions. The latest version allows physicians to treat both eyes at once, a time-saver for both doctors and patients, andincludes an enhanced user interface.
"TearScience expects to provide many more enhancements that will assist physicians in treating dry-eye sufferers efficiently, effectively and profitably," CEO Tim Willis said in a statement.
