Sewer overflows into Walnut Creek tributary

RALEIGH -- A sewer overflow of roughly 8,000 gallons discharged into an unnamed tributary of Walnut Creek Wednesday, according to the City of Raleigh Public Utilities Department.

Caused by grease and rags, the overflow from the sewer main behind 608 Hadley Drive lasted for about 10 hours. It was corrected by 7 p.m. according to A city news release, which said only water, human waste and toilet paper are allowed in the sewer system.
