RALEIGH -- Police charged a Raleigh man with drug possession today and with having two handguns they said they found while executing a search warrant.

Emil Giles Hanner, 32, of 528 Bridle Path Drive, was charged with possession of a gun by a felon after officers said they found a 9mm pistol and a .380-caliber pistol in the house. Police did not indicate whether the guns were loaded.

A judge in Guilford County put Hanner on probation in 2001 after he was convicted of drug possession, state prison records show. Raleigh police said in their arrest warrant that the charge involved cocaine. He also has convictions for numerous charges of breaking into cars and stealing items, according to the state.

Raleigh police charged Hanner with trafficking in cocaine, possession of marijuana with intent to sell it, and resisting arrest and not following officers' directions when they came to the house to search. He was held on $501,000 bond for all the counts.

Lawrence T. Walker, 28, of the same address, also was charged with trafficking in cocaine and marijuana possession and with maintaining a vehicle or dwelling to keep drugs. He was ordered held on a $200,000 bond.

The arrest warrants for both men charged they had 39.8 grams of marijuana and between 28 and 200 grams of cocaine, which is the range of quantities in state law for a Class G felony.
