HOLLY SPRINGS -- A man whom Holly Springs police had arrested early today was charged with assault on three officers and threatening to kill one of them when they were trying to execute a warrant that allowed them to draw a blood sample in connection with his arrest.

Police charged Shawn Michael Tippett, 27, of 2713 Holland Road in Apex with assault on a government employee, communicating threats and malicious conduct by a prisoner.

Tippett, police said, kicked one officer in the head and chest and a second officer in the leg and spit at a third. He told one of the officers, "I know where to find you, and I'll ... kill you," according to arrest warrants.

Holly Springs police would not disclose what had led to Tippett's original arrest. He was ordered held in the Wake County Jail on a $10,000 bond on the assault and threat charges.
