Two local Girl Scouts have been honored for their leadership skills by the Women's Leadership Council of United Way of the Greater Triangle.
Sarah Kendall of Hillsborough was named a 2011 Emily's Star, an award that recognizes teen girls who have demonstrated personal growth and made a difference in their community, after a project teaching her peers about litter and the environment. Victoria Daniels of Raleigh was recognized for a project addressing Internet safety for teens. The projects stemmed from the girls' attendance at last year's "Discover the Leader in You!" camp sponsored by the Women's Leadership Council.
Sarah, a member of Troop 945 and the daughter of Janet and Michael Kendall, is an eighth-grader at Stanford Middle School in Hillsborough. Victoria, the daughter of Keith Daniels and Tonya Koonce-Daniels, is in Troop 154 and is a freshman at Enloe High School in Raleigh.
