Gabriela Quinlan of Cary has earned the Gold Award, the highest achievement in Girl Scouting.

For her Gold project, Gabriela taught more than 300 Lufkin Road Middle School students about the effects of litter on the environment. She also recruited volunteers for the annual Clean up at Crabtree at Lake Crabtree County Park.

Gabriela, the daughter of Helen and Shane Quinlan, was a member of Troop 1870 and graduated last year from Cary High School.
