The Feb. 4 article "House slams ACLU's position on prayers" states that N.C. House Speaker Thom Tillis and Majority Leader Paul Stam believe the ACLU is "radical" and "is out of touch with the concerns of North Carolina residents."
They certainly don't speak for me. When they are acting as private citizens, I defend their desire to pray. However, when working in the General Assembly, they should follow the law that says prayer cannot be specific to one religion. But if Tillis and Stam don't agree with that and need an activity to focus their mind, I suggest they use the time to study the Constitution. Better yet, they could do something radical: stop bickering and focus on fixing North Carolinians' real-world problems.
