RALEIGH -- The City of Raleigh approved a $374,344 contract for a Wade Avenue pedestrian and bicycle project.

The improvement contract awarded to Turner Asphalt, Inc., aims to enhance pedestrian and bicycle accessibility between Ridge Road and Faircloth Street, according to a city news release. It will also provide direct access to the House Creek Greenway.

The project will consist of the installation of a curb and gutter on both sides of Wade Avenue, providing wide outside lanes for bicycles, five feet on the north side and a 10-foot-wide multipurpose path on the south side.

The project is partially funded by federal funds. The bid also requires approval from the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
