Ralph Arone, 79, died Saturday, February 4, 2012 at The Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center, following a short and courageous battle with lung cancer.
He was born December 28, 1932 in White Plains, N.Y to the late George and Gina Luigi Arone. Ralph was also preceded in death by his son, Paul, and daughter, Gina.
Ralph served his country honorably in the U S Marine Corps during the Korean War, where he was wounded, finishing his military service in London, at the U.S. Embassy.
He lived in N.Y., Calabria, Italy, and N.C. He made a career of horse training, harness racing and being a restaurateur. Ralph was a master gardener, chef, linguist, storyteller, and lover of reading and singing, especially the song, “I did it my way."
Ralph, will be especially remembered for his passion for people and love of life.
Surviving are his wife, Judy B Parlatore of Wilmington, NC; daughter, Paulette Shilling and husband, Stan of Overland Park, Kansas; son, Ralph Arone, Jr. and wife, Terry of Raleigh, NC; four granddaughters, Jessie, Chandler, Christina, and Angela; two grandsons, Michael & Dylan; a sister, Nuccia, cousin Paolino Sangiuliano of Calabria, Italy.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 1 PM Friday, February 10, 2012
at St. Mark Catholic Church, 1011 Eastwood Rd., Wilmington, N.C.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401, in memory of Ralph Arone, for a “Safe Passages Tribute Tile”.
