Tar Heel Republicans are equally divided between Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich, according to a new poll.

Gingrich and Romney both have the support of 30 percent of those surveyed, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum at 20 percent support, Texas Congressman Ron Paul at 11 percent and 9 percent not sure or are for someone else.

Romney has gained among North Carolina voters since the last survey taken by Public Policy Polling, a Democratic-leaning firm based in Raleigh.

The firm surveyed 819 Republican voters Feb. 3-5 and had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.4 percent.
