Recap: U-C-L-A vs. Stanford

Lazeric Jones scored 21 points and handed out six assists to lead the UCLA Bruins to a 72-61 decision over the Stanford Cardinal in a Pac-12 Conference bout at the Los Angeles Sports Arena.

Travis Wear added 13 points for UCLA (14-10, 7-5 Pac-12), while Jerime Anderson chipped in 12 points and six assists. Joshua Smith grabbed seven rebounds.

Chasson Randle paced Stanford (16-8, 6-6) with 16 points but also committed five turnovers. Andrew Zimmerman pulled down six rebounds and Aaron Bright handed out five assists as the Cardinal lost their second in a row and fifth in their last six games.

The Bruins took a 35-27 edge into halftime after they shot 55.6 percent from the floor in the opening stanza. Stanford was stifled and made only 32.1 percent of its field goals in the first half.

The Cardinal improved after the break and shot 46.4 percent from the field in the second half. UCLA was able to extend its lead by converting 14-of-21 from the charity stripe in the final 20 minutes.

UCLA scored 28 points off of 22 turnovers, while Stanford converted the Bruins' 19 turnovers into only 13 points.
