Recap: Hawaii vs. Nevada

Deonte Burton scored 20 points to help the Nevada Wolf Pack to its 88-79 victory over the Hawaii Warriors in a Western Athletic Conference contest at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Malik Story added 19 points for Nevada (20-4, 9-1 WAC), while Dario Hunt contributed a double-double of 15 points and 17 boards. Olek Czyz also had 15 points and Jerry Evans Jr. chipped in 13 points.

Joston Thomas paced Hawaii (13-10, 5-4) with 18 points. Hauns Brereton scored 17 points, Jeremiah Ostrowski had 15 points, and Vander Joaquim added 14 points. Ostrowski handed out eight assists and Vander pulled down nine rebounds for the Warriors.

Hawaii led 39-36 at halftime after it connected on 53.6 percent of its field goals including 4-of-10 from three-point range in the opening period. The Wolf Pack kept the pressure on by shooting 45.5 percent from the floor in the first half.

Nevada took the lead for good less than five minutes into the second half as Evans Jr.'s three-pointer broke a tie and gave the visitors a 51-48 advantage. The Wolf Pack shot 51.9 percent from the field and converted 19-of-33 at the foul line in the final 20 minutes. The Warriors fell off to shoot 39.4 percent from the floor in the second period.

The Wolf Pack held a 46-47 advantage in the rebounding battle.
