SPENCER -- -- A single-vehicle crash Thursday evening on Interstate 85 in Rowan County killed a woman who was from Matthews, the N.C. Highway Patrol reports.

Killed in the wreck was Tiffany West, 22. She was a passenger in a Chrysler PT Cruiser that went off the road, hit a guardrail, and overturned.

The wreck happened about 6:30 p.m., troopers say, on northbound I-85, about a quarter-mile south of Exit 81. Troopers say the driver, identified as 18-year-old Zolfa Allamabani, apparently lost control of the vehicle.

Allamabani and a passenger in the front seat were not hurt. West was riding in the back seat, along with another passenger who was injured. According to several published reports, West's family lived in Rowan County.

Troopers say Allamabani was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and failure to maintain lane control.
