Former Charlotte City Council member Edwin Peacock III is considering a run for Congress from the 9th District.

"We've got a pretty good foundation established financially," he said. "My supporters are calling me. It's too good of an opportunity not to consider."

Peacock lost re-election last November in a Democratic sweep of at-large seats.

He's one of several candidates considering the race since 18-year incumbent Sue Myrick announced she wouldn't run. At least three Republicans, including Mecklenburg Commissioner Jim Pendergraph, already have announced.
