Many thanks to the Wake County SPCA, the Humane Society of the United States and Stokes County Animal Control for rescuing those poor puppies at Dan River Bullies puppy mill (news story, Feb. 9).
Shame on our state legislature! Shame on the members of the House for not passing SB 460, and shame on the Pork Council and the other special-interest groups that lobbied to kill the bill. Shame on our state legislators for not introducing another bill.
Wake up, North Carolina! Do we want to be a magnet for puppy mills and a dogfighting and cockfighting haven because we have little to no regulation? We can fix this problem easily: Pass the laws.
