Luther Vernon Carver, 95, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2012. Vernon was born December 5, 1916 in Durham County to the late Isiah Thomas Carver and Sadie Ball Carver. Vernon married Lillie Copley Carver on December 24, 1940. He retired as a supervisor from Westinghouse with 25 years of service.
Funeral Service: 11:00 am, Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Green Pines Baptist Church, 1498 Hodge Road, Knightdale, NC 27545 with Reverend Jarrod Scott officiating.
Burial: Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC 27603.
Surviving: Wife of 71 years, Lillie Copley Carver; Daughter, Linda C. Dzuba (Steve) of Raleigh; Son, Ronald Carver of Raleigh; Daughter-In-Law, Mary Jernigan of Fairmont; Grandchildren, Donna, David, Zachary and Hunter; Sisters, Catherine Jeffries of Durham, Dr. Mozelle Carver of Raleigh, Elizabeth Hargrove of Hillsborough; Brother, Marvin Carver of Durham.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael “Mickey” Carver; a grandson, Scott Carver; sisters, Louise Hall, Carrie Maddry, Ruth Duncan and Gladys Lovett; and brothers, Irving and Tom Carver.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Green Pines Baptist Church.
