Saltwater

Oregon Inlet

Inshore boats reported red flounder and tile fish. Two bluefin tuna caught offshore were reported at an average of 300 pounds. Offshore boats also reported limits of yellowfin tuna. Contact: Oregon Inlet Fishing Center 252-441-6301, www.oregon-inlet.com.

Buxton/Hatteras

Inshore boats and on the beaches, speckled trout, croaker and sea mullet are biting. Offshore boats reported marlin, blackfin tuna, yellowfin tuna, dolphin and wahoo are biting. Cape Lookout/

Bogue Inlet

Inshore and in the sound, speckled trout are the only fish being caught but remain scattered. Offshore, blackfin tuna, pompano and wahoo are being caught. Topsail Island

On the beaches, dogfish and red flounder have been biting thanks to warmer water temperatures. Speckled trout are still being found on the sound side, in the rivers and in the creeks. Wilmington/ Wrightsville Beach

Warmer water temperatures have kept anglers out in the waters. On the beaches, speckled trout and red drum are biting. Inshore boats reported red drum and flounder are still biting. Southport/Sunset Beach

In the inlets and creeks, speckled trout, flounder and red drum are biting. Offshore, anglers are still finding success with the blackfin tuna, yellowfin tuna and wahoo bite. Contact: Dutchman Creek Bait & Tackle 910-457-1221; www.yeahrightcharters.com; or www.oifishingcenter.com.

Freshwater

Falls Lake

Colder weather continues to slow the fishing in the area. Largemouth bass are on the move, but still being caught on jerkbaits and smaller crankbaits in 3 to 5 feet depths and through slow rolling spinner baits in 10 to 12 feet depths. Crappie are still being caught around bridge pilings and brush piles on minnows. Catfish are still slow, but have been reported at differing depths. Water level: normal 251.5, Wednesday 248.81, full pool 264.8. Contact: Outhouse Tackle 919-217-0085; www.wmi.org.

Jordan Lake

Crappie remain lively in the area on live minnows deep near the bridge pilings and brush piles, but not many keepers have been caught. Water level: normal 216, Wednesday 216.59, full pool 240. Contact: Wilsonville General Store 919-362-7101; Crosswinds Marina 919-362-5391.

Kerr Lake

Crappie still remain close to brush piles and are being caught on minnows. Largemouth bass are being caught shallow on crankbaits. Striped bass are biting shallow on minnows. Lake Wheeler

Largemouth bass are biting on crankbaits in shallow depths. Catfish remain scattered, but are being caught on chicken livers. Contact: Wilsonville General Store 919-362-7101.

Shearon Harris Lake

Largemouth bass are scattered, but are still biting on jerkbaits at about 15 to 20 feet off of the points. Crappie are being caught on live minnows. Contact: The Tackle Box 919-557-8255; www.wmi.org.
