Georgia Tech coach Brian Gregory called for his team to run an offensive play called "Texas" in the first half. When it failed, Gregory had his team try it again - yelling, "Texas! Texas!" repeatedly - the next time down the court. Still didn't work.

Referee Mike Eades apparently was mistaken for a Yellow Jackets player when a Georgia Tech pass went right to him as he stood along the sideline in the first half. Eades tried to get out of the way, but the ball hit him, bounced out of bounds and went over to Wake Forest.

Georgia Tech had five blocks in the first half. Three of them came within the game's first two minutes. That started a stretch during which Wake Forest made just one of its first 10 shots.

The Deacons held Georgia Tech to 25.0 percent shooting in the first half, but they weren't much better at 28.1 percent. Deacons freshman guard Chase Fischer missed all of six of his first-half shots, five of them 3-point attempts.
