DURHAM — A fire destroyed a duplex in Durham on Wednesday night, displacing two families, authorities reported.
The fire at 2230 LaFayette St. started around 8 p.m. according to the fire department.
One resident was injured with second-degree burns on his legs. He was not transported to the hospital.
The Red Cross provided temporary shelter for occupants in one of the apartments, including three adults and two children, according to the fire department. A second family with two adults and six children also was affected, but they found their own shelter.
Investigators have not discovered the cause of the fire.
