WENDELL -- A 29-year-old Raleigh man has been arrested and charged with trafficking more than 50 pounds of marijuana and two pounds of psychedelic drugs while maintaining a drug dwelling in Wendell.
Alexander Aldaya, of 1287 Schaub Drive, Apt. A, was arrested Thursday with charges relating to a drug bust that took place last week in Johnston County. He is believed to have conspired with four other men, according to his arrest warrant.
According to his arrest warrant, Aldaya kept a dwelling house for marijuana and psilocybin "shrooms" at a double wide in Wendell located at 2576 Hwy 231.
Three of the other men involved in the operation were arrested in Johnston County on February 8, according to Tammy Amaon, spokeswoman for the Johnston County Sheriff's Office. The men arrested in Johnston County are: John Alexander Aldaya, Ofilio Adolfo Berrios, and Fabian Bramwell.
A narcotics division of the Sheriff's Office, along with officers from the Drug Enforcement Agency, and the FBI, had a joint operation investigating the residence on Highway 231. They found 50 ponds of marijuana already packaged for shipment when they arrived, said Amaon.
Aldaya is facing charges in three counts of trafficking marijuana, adding up to a bond of $2 million. He is also facing charges in one count each of conspiring to trafficking in marijuana, maintaining a place to sell a controlled substance, and possession with intent to manufacture and sell a controlled substance, which totals a separate bond of $500,000.
Aldaya is being held in the Wake County Jail.
