Emma Thorpe of Cary has earned the Gold Award, the highest achievement in Girl Scouting.

For her Gold project, Emma created a series of lessons on exercise and nutrition for the children's program at The Carying Place, a local organization that assists working families with housing and finances.

Emma, the daughter of Suzanne and Tod Thorpe, is a senior at Athens Drive High School and a member of Troop 1860, led by Wanda Schramm.
