Ritika Patil of Cary has earned the Gold Award, the highest achievement in Girl Scouting.

For her Gold project, Ritika worked with the Ronald McDonald House of Durham to make it more colorful and lively for the families who stay there. She added garden accessories and planted low-maintenance perennial in the garden patch outside the house and added colorful handmade cushions and various decorative accents to the family room.

Ritika, the daughter of Preeth and Suma Patil, is a senior at Panther Creek High School and a member of Troop 1917, led by Lizbeth Ruba and Jennifer Simis.
