Former NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield surrendered to Catawba County deputies on Tuesday after being indicted Monday on four charges stemming from an arrest last year.

Mayfield, 42, was arrested at his rural mansion on Hudson Chapel Road in Catawba on November 2, 2011 when police found methamphetamines while executing a search warrant for stolen property.

Mayfield was indicted on drug charges five days later.

The Catawba County Superior Court indictment states Mayfield stole more than $1,000 worth of property each from Fitz Holdings, DEA Ventures Inc. and Red Bull Racing.

Mayfield is also charged with obtaining property by false pretense after allegedly taking $1,200 from Smith Setzer and Sons, Inc.

He was indefinitely suspended from NASCAR after failing a drug test in May 2009.
